Today, around 500,000 people demonstrated in the streets in Hong Kong, in open defiance of the Chinese government. This lady was there and posted her photos on her Xanga site. Personally, I would have been afraid to.
Go to http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=blondemabz to see Miss Mabz' photos of today's demonstration.
"i think the defiance was more towards the hksar government more than the chinese central government. there were a wide range of reasons why people took to the streets, and being anti chinese government was probably not on the agenda. the main reasons (from what i saw) were anti article 23 and anti senior government officials, whom the citizens saw as being incompetent and biased.
we weren't putting our safety and wellbeing on the line as such. the rally was quite peaceful, so 'brave' wouldn't be the most fitting word to describe us. perhaps we made our effort to make this protest a historic event. who knows?"

That was a very brave thing for her to do.
I find it really interesting that such changes are occurring in China as us Americans sit on our rears in front of computers and TVs or sleep at night. In fact, I was just watching a movie from China the other night called Fulltime Killer. It was a great movie....
thanks for subbing
