Ananova:

Canada's big hug record attempt falls flat
A Canadian attempt at a world record for the biggest hug failed because only 69 people turned up.
Organisers of the attempt in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, needed 4,703 people for the effort.

There probably aren't 4,703 people LIVING in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland. Maybe there would have been a bigger turnout had they held the hugfest in Dildo, Newfoundland. Would've made for a funnier headline, anyway.
Thats a bit of a shame only 69 out of 4703. Not enough love in the world eh?

Damn!!!!
I think it's a bit embarrasing that only 69 people turned up...
well did they expect that many people? i wonder?
perhaps they should have gone for the .. how many people can we pack into an elephant' record
or how many 'milk crates can we stack up?' one...
or the biggest pancake?
propz!
Aw, too bad.
Mayby people there just arent huggy feely people
I'm torn between thinking it is sad that no one wants to hug and feeling amused that only 69 (snerk) people showed up. Still a magical number, either way.
