  • Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

    by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lighting they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

  • Giant gerbils infest China

The gerbils running riot in China's arid far north-west may sound like the fluffy pets loved by so many children but they are in a different league.

This is reported to be the worst rodent disaster to hit this region. . .

Authorities are trying to combat the gerbils, not only by using poison, but also by breeding eagles to devour them.

  • Crazy carp invade Missouri's rivers, jumping into boats and injuring occupants

A state fisheries biologist motoring near Columbia had a filling knocked out of his tooth by a high-flying fish that struck him on the side of the head. Another state biologist in the St. Charles area was seriously hurt when he was hit by a giant carp.

The carp were brought to private fish hatcheries from Asia by the aquaculture industry.

"The sound of a propeller under water makes these fish go crazy."

  • Native American 10 Commandments

    1. The Earth is our Mother; care for her.

    2. Honor all your relations.

    3. Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit.

    4. All life is sacred; treat all beings with respect.

    5. Take from the Earth what is needed and nothing more.

    6. Do what needs to be done for the good of all.

    7. Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit for each new day.

    8. Speak the truth; but only of the good in others.

    9. Follow the rhythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun.

    10. Enjoy life's journey, but leave no tracks

    From Devich

  • "Ask questions, no, screech questions out loud, while kneeling in front of the electric doors at Safeway, demanding other citizens ask questions along with you, while chewing up old textbooks and spitting the words onto downtown sidewalks, outside the Planet Hollywood, outside the stock exchange, and outside the Gap. Grind questions onto the glass on photocopiers. Scrape challenges onto old auto parts and throw them off bridges so that future people digging in the mud will question the world, too. Carve eyeballs into tire treads and onto shoe leathers so that your every trail speaks of thinking and questioning and awareness. Design molecules that crystallize into question marks. Make bar codes print out fables, not prices. You can't even throw away a piece of litter unless it has a question mark stamped on it, a demand for people to reach a finer place." -Douglas Coupland

  •  So We'll Go No More A-Roving

      George Gordon, Lord Byron (1788 - 1824)

So we'll go no more a-roving

    So late into the night,

Though the heart be still as loving,

And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears it's sheath,

And the soul wears out the breast,

And the heart must pause to breathe,

    And Love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,

And the day returns too soon,

Yet we'll go no more a-roving

By the light of the moon.
