Judge Orders Deputies to Round Up Jurors from Wal-Mart
Judge Ripley Eagles Rand of Raleigh ordered deputies Wednesday to go to Wal-Mart after he found a shortage of possible jurors for a murder trial set to begin Monday.
He said shoppers at the store would be representative of the county.
Sheriff Carey Winders suggested that the deputies could instead randomly call people and order them to serve.
Some shoppers were upset by questioning Wednesday, a day before Thanksgiving, he said. "They were raising Cain with my officers and don't understand why they have to serve."

Representative of Sheep led to slaughter? Perhaps that is a more apt description.
