Shiny concert hall gets nearby residents hot under the collar
By The Associated Press
(2/24/04 - LOS ANGELES, CA) — The glare off the shimmering stainless steel curves at the Walt Disney Concert Hall is so bad, it's heating up nearby condos at least 15 degrees and forcing owners to crank up their air conditioners.
"You couldn't even see and then the furniture would get really hot," said Jacqueline Lagrone, 42. "You would have the air conditioning on all the time. It would be comfortable, but not cool."
Disney Hall officials have been scrambling to reduce the glare. A temporary synthetic net now covers two sections of the Founders Room.
