BERLIN (Reuters) – German police are hunting three bandits who held up a self-service strawberry farm with a pistol and a knife — for a five-pound basket of strawberries.

Germany’s AZ newspaper reported on Wednesday that the three men filled their basket with strawberries at a “pick-your-own” farm in the southern town of Taufkirchen near Munich.

When the farm saleswoman approached the men in the field to take their money, they drew their weapons. She fled while the thieves escaped in their nearby car.

    Mohammed Atta

Mohammed Atta’s Last Will & Testament

In the name of God all mighty

    Death Certificate

This is what I want to happen after my death, I am Mohamed the son of Mohamed Elamir awad Elsayed: I believe that prophet Mohamed is God’s messenger and time will come no doubt about that and God will resurrect people who are in their graves. I wanted my family and everyone who reads this will to fear the Almighty God and don’t get deceived by what is in life and to fear God and to follow God and his prophets if they are real believers. In my memory, I want them to do what Ibrahim (a prophet) told his son to do, to die as a good Muslim. When I die, I want the people who will inherit my possessions to do the following:

    1. The people who will prepare my body should be good Muslims because this will remind me of God and his forgiveness.

    2. The people who are preparing my body should close my eyes and pray that I will go to heaven and to get me new clothes, not the ones I died in.

    3. I don’t want anyone to weep and cry or to rip their clothes or slap their faces because this is an ignorant thing to do.

    4. I don’t want anyone to visit me who didn’t get along with me while I was alive or to kiss me or say good bye when I die.

    5. I don’t want a pregnant woman or a person who is not clean to come and say good bye to me because I don’t approve it.

    6. I don’t want women to come to my house to apologize for my death. I am not responsible for people who will sacrifice animals in front of my lying body because this is against Islam.

    7. Those who will sit beside my body must remember Allah, God, and pray for me to be with the angels.

    8. The people who will clean my body should be good Muslims and I do not want a lot of people to wash my body unless it is necessary.

    9. The person who will wash my body near my genitals must wear gloves on his hands so he won’t touch my genitals.

    10. I want the clothes I wear to consist of three white pieces of cloth, not to be made of silk or expensive material.

    11. I don’t want any women to go to my grave at all during my funeral or on any occasion thereafter.

    12. During my funeral I want everyone to be quiet because God mentioned that he likes being quiet on occasions when you recite the Koran, during the funeral, and when you are crawling. You must speed my funeral procession and I would like many people there to pray for me.

    13. When you bury me the people with whom I will be buried should be good Muslims. I want to face East toward Mecca.

    14. I should be laying on my right side. You should throw the dust on my body three times while saying from the dust, we created you dust and to dust you will return. From the dust a new person will be created. After that everyone should mention God’s name and that I died as a Muslim which is God’s religion. Everyone who attends my funeral should ask that I will be forgiven for what I have done in the past (not this action).

    15. The people who will attend my funeral should sit at my grave for an hour so that I will enjoy their company and slaughter animals and give the meat to the needy.

    16. The custom has been to memorialize the dead every forty days or once a year but I do not want this because it is not an Islamic custom.

    17. I don’t want people to take time to write things on paper to be kept in their pockets as superstition. Time should be taken to pray to God instead.

    18. All the money I left must be divided according to the Muslim religion as almighty God has asked us to do. A third of my money should be spent on the poor and the needy. I want my books to go to any one of the Muslim mosques. I wanted the people who look at my will to be one of the heads of the Sunna religion. Whoever it is, I want that person to be from where I grew up or any person I used to follow in prayer. People will be held responsible for not following the Muslim religion. I wanted the people who I left behind to hear God and not to be deceived by what life has to offer and to pray more to God and to be good believers. Whoever neglects this will or does not follow the religion, that person will be held responsible in the end.

This was written on April 11, 1996, the Islamic calendar of zoelqada is 1416.

    Blacks Prospered Under Reagan

“Under Reagan, black adult unemployment fell faster than did white unemployment,” noted Larry Elder. “Black teenage unemployment fell faster than did white teenage unemployment. And blacks started businesses at a rate faster than that of whites.

“In 1981,” Elder continued, “the nation’s poverty rate stood at 14 percent. It declined to 11.6 percent in 1988, Reagan’s last year in office.”

Media reports on the 1990 Census support Elder’s claims.

“A set of minority economic profiles released by the Census Bureau show that black households had a median income of $19,758 at the time of the 1990 census, up 84% from 1980,” noted the Associated Press in July 1992. “During that period, white median household incomes climbed 68%.”

According to a 1990 report in the San Francisco Chronicle:

“High school graduation rates among black students rose substantially during the 1980s, narrowing an education gap with whites, according to a new federal study on U.S. school enrollments.

“About 75 percent of blacks ages 18 to 24 in 1988 reported that they were high school graduates. Ten years earlier, only 68 percent of blacks in this age group reported that they had high school diplomas. The proportion of whites who say they graduated from high school has held at about 82 percent.”

Rush for surnames produces 500 Genghis Khans

    June 12, 2004

Mongolians have been ordered to invent their own surnames.

Hundreds, pondering what to call themselves, daily besiege a small office in the centre of their capital where identity documents are issued. Held back by armed guards outside, some opt for surnames like Seven Drunk Men that hint at Mongolia’s national pastime.

Others prefer to adopt the name of Genghis Khan, still the mightiest of Mongols, who now has 500 namesakes in Ulan Bator.

When communism crumbled in 1990 the ban on family names was lifted but many nomadic herders continue to refer to each other only by single names.

Now, to fight incest and make official records more intelligible, the Government has set a deadline of June 27 for all 2.5 million Mongolians to choose a family name.

DJ Fired for Celebrating Reagan’s Death

A college disc jockey who put on a radio show celebrating Ronald Reagan‘s death was fired Friday from his position as the station’s business manager.

Scott Hornyak, a 28-year-old undergraduate student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, had been suspended indefinitely from his disc jockey job at KSUA-FM.

‘They’re firing me because of what I said, and the public’s reaction to what I said,’ said Hornyak. He berated Reagan, who died June 5, for his foreign policy in Latin America, Iraq and Afghanistan, and for his response to the AIDS epidemic.

Hornyak said the show was “a celebration that Ronald Reagan was dead, was finally dead,” and that he told listeners he wanted to “walk over the newly laid dirt” on Reagan’s grave.

    SEC BEGINS FORMAL PROBE OF
    SUBSIDIARY OF HALLIBURTON CO.

    ASSOCIATED PRESS June 11, 2004

HOUSTON – The Securities and Exchange Commission is formally investigating allegations that a Halliburton Co. subsidiary was involved in paying $180 million in bribes to get a natural gas project contract in Nigeria. Vice President Dick Cheney was head of the oil services conglomerate at the time.

The allegations center on a $4 billion Nigerian liquefied natural gas plant built in the 1990s by the four partners. The payments for the gas plant contract were allegedly made to Nigerian officials.

Cheney was Halliburton’s CEO from 1995 to 2000 – five of the seven years in which the clandestine payments were allegedly made.

Halliburton officials don’t believe the company has violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, but the company said “there can be no assurance that government authorities would not conclude otherwise.”

Church warns of risks from ‘New Age’ therapies

      From:The Irish Independent

Stretching belief . . . yoga could lead away from Christianity, according to a report. Picture posed by models. ? Stockbyte

CHRISTIANS have been warned about the dangers of using a whole range of increasingly popular ‘New Age’ therapies.

The Presbyterian Church issued the warning in a report that was approved yesterday at its annual General Assembly in Belfast.

The report says that ‘alternative therapies’ can lead believers away from God and Jesus because they “have their roots in either Eastern religion (Taoism or Hinduism) or vital life force or energy”, which implies the existence of “an impersonal god”.

The specific therapies which the Presbyterian report warned against yesterday were: reflexology; acupuncture; yoga and transcendental meditation; reiki; aromatherapy; homoeopathy; and charms and cures.

“We need to be careful before, as Christians, we take part in any of these therapies and their belief in ‘other gods’.”

“We need to be clear that not all spirituality is good.”

    British warships crash during display

    June 12 2004

London – Two British warships crashed a few kilometres off the coast of southern England while showing off manoeuvres to dignitaries, the Ministry of Defence said on Saturday.

The frigates Argyll and Kent were carrying out displays about 15 kilometres from the naval base of Plymouth on Thursday when their hulls scraped against each other.

“There was a minor collision,” a spokesperson said.

“It was a Sea Day when they take people on ships to show them what the navy does.”
