Oh, in case you missed it, one of the many co-sponsors of the Defense of Marriage Act in the House of Representatives dropped his re-election bid on Monday after a blogger posted an audiotape alleged to be of the representative seeking gay sex.

Ed Schrock, R-Virginia, didn't address the allegation in announcing his resignation from the race. The 63-year-old representative has a wife and grown son.

Schrock consistently opposed legislation favored by gays. As a candidate in 2000, he opposed President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, which barred the military from asking service members their sexual orientation. Schrock said that having gays in the military would hurt discipline.

“You’re in the showers with them, you’re in the bunk room with them, you’re in staterooms with them,’’ Schrock said. “You just hope no harm would come by folks who are of that persuasion. It’s a discipline thing.’’

He also was among more than 100 co-sponsors of a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriages.

You can hear the ad for yourself here at the site that outed Schorock. Here's the transcript via a Daily Kos diary.

Uh, hi, I weigh 200 pounds, uh, six-foot-four, hazel eyes, blond hair, very muscular, very buffed-up, uh, very tanned, um, I'd just like to get together with a guy from time to time just to -- just to play. I'd like him to be, uh, in very good shape, flat stomach, good chest, good arms, well-hung, cut, uh, just get naked, play, and see what happens, nothing real heavy duty, but just a fun time, go down on him, he can go down on me, and just, uh, take it from there. Hope to hear from you. Bye.

    intresting read .x

  • I assume that everyone who is "worried" about same-sex marriages is essentially gay. If they weren't nervous about converting, they wouldn't give a sh**.

  • Like I said over on FlakCat's 'blog: Whether he's gay or not really shouldn't be an issue in terms of the proposed amendment. I know it isn't as far as I'm concerned. He might have some perfectly logical reason for opposing gay marriage. I doubt it, but it might be the case.

It's just too bad he can't come out of the closet (if he's in the closet to begin with). Dude's getting the shame double-whammy.

  • I agree with thenarrator.
