Thanks for the nice comemnt on my blog about my pics,
Its my easy way out as I dont know all the damn interesting things you find to post, so I a pic is worth a 1000 words they say so I am adding pics and cutting words lOL
As it happens, I re-read Russell's Unpopular Essays about two weeks ago. A great deal to think about in there. Paul Johnson did a pretty effective hatchet job on Russell in Intellectuals, but I find that I don't care about writer's private lives -- I mean I don't care if they appear to be hypocrites. Maybe they just set higher standards than they can meet. Knowing what is the right thing to do is not the same thing as doing it. For any of us.
The Orwell references also struck a chord with me. Are you interested in dystopian novels? It's a bit of a "speciality" of mine.
hmmmm
but it must b okay 2 b bitter sometimes? as long as it doesn't eat u up...
Hmm...quotes Bertrand Russell, patterns things after The Dharma Bums...I believe you're my new hero!
I read your entry about Stendahl's syndrome and I can attest to the fact that it does exist. My father is a psychiatrist and actually mentioned it to my friends and I before we went to Florence, almost in passing. There really is a sort of sensory overload that happens though...it's strange.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the note and tell you that I like your journal very much and I'm subscribing to it.
don't remind me....
Ah good old bertie russel. i have to say i liked him till he dissed my favourite philosopher John Locke.
May the travails of life make you a better person, not a bitter person---why i said that...back in the daze when the acid was good and the living was easy
