  •  'Horn' grows on man's head

    Shimla, Dec 22 (IANS):

A villager in Himachal Pradesh is attracting a lot of curiosity for the "horn" growing at the back of his head.

"The horn-like growth is about three and a half inches long and started growing at the back of my head some six months ago," says Lekh Ram.

Medical records say it is a very rare phenomenon.

The news has started attracting curious villagers from neighbouring villages. Uncomfortable at the attention, Ram ties a turban to hide the growth.

A bachelor and a celibate, Ram has served in temples all his life. He claims to have had several mystical experiences.

"Weeeee!", screams Joel, "I've made an
      offensive-to-christians rock'n'roll Christmas
card thingy!" On pointing out to Joel that
Jesus was actually crucified at Easter he said,
"I quite like the way it's seasonally
      inappropriate. What's Christmas all about
after all, if not rock music and crucified
      Godchild kittens?" Yes, quite.

  • Islanders' holiday promotion turns ugly

    Associated Press

Uniondale, N.Y, — The promotion invited fans to dress up as Santa Claus for Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers and be admitted for free. What's more, they were permitted to parade across the ice between periods.

About 1,000 Santa Clauses showed up ...

This turned out to be not such a good idea. As the Santas milled around, two of them removed their red jackets to reveal jerseys of the rival Rangers.

The interlopers were knocked to the ice and had the shirts ripped off. Other Santas went sliding across the ice during the melee that took six minutes to settle down.

  • A Hindu view of Christmas
    Web Posted - Mon Dec 22 2003

    By Latchman Kissoon

The Hindus believe that Lord Jesus is an Avtar and his birth is in accordance with the scripture injunction contained in the Bhagavad Gita when Lord Sri Krishna spoke to his disciple Arjuna. “Whenever there is a decline of righteousness on earth and unrighteousness takes over, then I manifest myself from age to age to rid the world of its suffering.”

The world needs peace (Shanti) and Jesus the son of God was sent to re-establish. My peace I give unto you. He came to maintain the Old order. I came not to destroy, but to fulfill. In my father’s house there are many mansions and if it were not so I would have told you so. The world needs no more war and I am telling you so. One thing I would not like to be this Christmas is a turkey. A Merry Christmas to all people of the one world.

(Latchman Kissoon is an Attorney-at-law and President of the Barbados Inter-Religious Organisation.)
