Hawaii is expected to send at least 500 maximum-security inmates to the private Tutwiler prison.

Hundreds of Hawaii inmates now being housed in Arizona facilities would come to Mississippi.

Gov. Haley Barbour will sign legislation sent to his desk Tuesday to allow the Tutwiler prison to accept inmates up to maximum-security classifications from other states.

After the first 500 Hawaii inmates come to Tutwiler, there's been talk of 500 more prisoners coming from Hawaii.
