"To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch,
or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived- this is to have succeeded." -R.W. Emerson

you know ppl I talk to and tell them what I posted sometimes say that. I think it has to do with personality
Sometimes people find the most lucid words to dispense advice; the quote by Emerson is one of my favorite examples. Another beautifully simple advice poem: http://www.sfheart.com/desiderata.html.
Great post.
Exellent quote matey
bravo!
nuh-uh! (in regards to below post)
it makes me want to go out and succeed.
"this is to have succeeded." and this is also to have lived...
Nice quote..although I can do without the "affection of children" bit..that would mean they would want to be around me. And that would annoy me. I am a bad person.
